Young Alumni of the Year: Paul von Autenried ‘20 (Vol. 108)

Through various initiatives and continued engagement within the Law Review, Paul has demonstrated his willingness to go above and beyond for this community. Paul is an associate at Keker, Van Nest & Peters, where he has worked on a variety of litigation matters, including professional liability, copyright, environmental law, antitrust, criminal defense, immigration, and contract disputes. Before joining KVP, Paul served as a law clerk for Judge Patty Shwartz of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit and worked as an associate at Sullivan & Cromwell. During law school, he served as a judicial extern to Judge Jacqueline S. Corley of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California and as an intern for the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of New Jersey. In addition, Paul competed on Berkeley Law’s Trial Team—a team he now coaches as an alumnus—and was a mentor in the Asian Pacific American Law Students Association. On the Law Review, Paul served as Senior Supervising Editor for Volume 108, where he worked to revise CLR’s Style Guide to promote inclusivity and cultural sensitivity in legal scholarship. He earned his A.B. in politics from Princeton University (with a certificate in Piano Performance).

As an alumnus, Paul has devoted his energy to expanding the world of clerkships to students of color, organizing clerkship programming, and mentoring editors directly.
